In today’s edition of things we didn’t need: Spotify just launched a new podcast all about Tekashi69. The new series, “Infamous: The Tekashi 6ix9ine Story” is narrated by acclaimed radio host and hip-hop journalist, Angie Martinez, and is set to tell “the shocking tale of a rapper addicted to viral fame.” Welp. Looks like that virality is still going places.

We already know that the 23-year-old DUMMY BOY rapper — whose real name is Daniel Hernandez — is serving out his prison sentence for racketeering, weapons and drug charges connected to his involvement with the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. He was sentenced on December 18, 2019, to two years in prison (minus 13 months of time already served) after having cooperated with federal authorities to reveal crimes committed by his former gang.

Naturally, this puts something of a target on the rapper’s back — he has since requested to serve the remainder of his sentence at home instead of in a private prison, however, the judge presiding over his case denied the request.

While it’s right about time for things to quiet down over the rapper, Spotify clearly has no intention of letting Hernandez’s salacious story blow over without making something of it for their platform. The first episode of “Infamous: The Tekashi 6ix9ine Story” dropped today, January 28, 2020, and with it comes a meager stance.

Host Angie Martinez kicks off the episode reminding listeners of Tekashi’s latest run-ins, but shortly takes us all the way back to his humble beginnings as a “scrappy kid from Bushwick.”

The jury’s still out on how the podcast will choose to address his “snitching” problem, along with Hernandez’s past felony count for use of a child in a sexual performance. The latter is teased at the end of Episode 1 — so you’ll have to tune in next week if you want to hear Spotify’s take on that.
