The Internet Is Obsessed With Macario Martínez – Here’s What We Know About the Singer

It feels like emerging Mexican singer Macario Martínez went viral overnight. Thanks to social media, the Mexico City-based street sweeper garnered the attention of thousands of people. Now, his music is reaching new audiences.
On Jan. 27, Martínez uploaded a TikTok with the caption, “Life asks for a lot and I’m just a street sweeper who wants you to listen to his music.” The TikTok shows the artist in his work uniform riding on the back of the city vehicle, with his song “sueña lindo, corazón” as the soundtrack. The video also shows a screen recording of how to find his music. Notably, he only had 2,622 monthly listeners on Spotify at the time of his recording. But thanks to social media, the artist now has 440,560 monthly listeners. The video also demonstrated that the same song had less than one thousand streams on Spotify but now has more than one million.
But what do we know about Martínez? It turns out that the 23-year-old has been making folk music since 2019. In a recent interview, he revealed that he’s been releasing music and uploading videos for six years, but it wasn’t until now that his project went viral. He also said that he learned how to play guitar thanks to his mother, who put him in guitar lessons when he was a kid. Before music, he had dreams of studying theater and art. Moreover, he cites his mom as his support system.
As of now, he isn’t signed to a record label or has a team, releasing music independently. Previous music releases include Lagunas Brillantes de la Memoria (2024) and Cuando Fuimos Felices EP (2022).
Fans are connecting with his music and commenting on his humbleness. An Instagram user, gaylfb, wrote: “I swear seeing you happy and crying fills my heart, I have cried with you. INFINITE blessings, never forget the beginning, simplicity and your personality is what makes it possible. Saludos a tu mami ♥️.”
