Update 1/27: The response to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, CA, is showing the world how the community has each other’s backs. From encouraging colleagues to donate to renting hotels for those affected, musicians are using their platforms to help with relief. Other ways celebrities are uniting to help? By participating in music events to raise funds and support the LA communities affected. The latest? Viva! Pomona is partnering up with The Glass House Pomona for two new shows featuring Latine artists. Mexican-American stars like Eslabon Armado and DannyLux are performing on Jan. 31 to help the wildfire relief.

“I ❤️ LA all proceeds will go to help people affected by the fires in California,” the artists announced. “Tickets are on sale now.” All ticket proceeds will benefit MusiCares and other organizations.

Moreover, Mexican-American artists like Innerwave and The Red Pears are also performing to support their community on Feb. 1.

More Latine artists helping LA include Mexican superstar Peso Pluma, who is officially part of Intuit Dome’s FireAID LA concert. Tickets are on sale now.

The ongoing wildfires started on Jan. 7. As of the time of publishing (Jan. 15), the Palisades Fire is 19 percent contained and has burned at least 23,713 acres; the Eaton Fire is 45 percent contained and has burned at least 14,117 acres; the Hurst Fire is 97 percent contained and has burned at least 799 acres; and the Auto Fire is 50 percent contained and has burned at least 61 acres. This is especially concerning for our Latine communities in Los Angeles County, where more than 4.8 million Hispanic/Latinos live.

First off, Insomniac Event is donating 100 percent of its net proceeds from selected upcoming shows in the LA and San Diego area. Featured Latine shows include Mexican-American DJ Deorro’s show at Exchange LA (Jan. 30) and the reggaeton party Gasolina at the Avalon Hollywood (Jan. 17). Check out Insomniac’s official page for more information.

IHeartComix, Brownies & Lemonade, Another Planet Entertainment, and Teragram are also uniting to do their part. The organizations are holding their LA Gives Back: Fire Relief event featuring artists, special guests, and partners getting together for a one-night-only concert. According to the flyer, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to charities that benefit the community, firefighters, and animals affected by this month’s natural disasters. The show will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at The Bellwether in Los Angeles, CA. Lineup and ticket prices have yet to be announced. Check out the venue’s official page for more information.

As aforementioned, another LA venue giving back to its community is the newly opened Intuit Dome in Inglewood, CA. They are partnering up with the Kia Forum to host a benefit concert that will take place on Jan. 30. “Two venues. One night. Your favorite artists coming together for music & solidarity. Shows start at 6pm,” FireAid LA announced. “Tickets go on sale January 22nd at noon PST. Donations can be made via the link in our bio. Stay tuned for more artist announcements in the coming days.” Billie Eilish & Finneas, Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Stevie Nicks are among the artists revealed on the lineup. All donations will go to the Annenberg Foundation, which will distribute to short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters, per FireAid LA.

There are also relief efforts happening outside of the City of Angels. The Inauguration Day’s Concert for America event (Jan. 20) in New York City recently revealed they’re also raising funds for the California Community Foundation, an organization supporting wildfire recovery. The event features both actors and musicians like Rachel Bloom, Caroline Rhea, Ingrid Michaelson, and more. The livestream will also include virtual appearances by Adam Scott and Kate Walsh, with musical performances by Wayne Brady, Rachel Bay Jones, and Carly Hughes. Ticket prices are at $48.30. Check out the event’s official page for more information.

Chicxs Rockerxs SELA, a music program for trans youth, gender-expansive youth, and girls in Southeast LA, is hosting a fundraiser to help affected families in their group directly. “In light of the recent wildfires in LA, we will be donating 100% of door proceeds directly to families affected,” the group announced online. “We would also like to have this show be an opportunity to hold space and provide healing and help relieve stress in the community.” The show is at The Smell, an all-ages music venue in Downtown LA, on Jan. 19. Tickets are $5.70. Check out their official website for more information.

Another local LA bar, The Offbeat, partnered up with Hyndsight Presents for a live music and comedy benefit show on Jan. 20. Though the lineup hasn’t been revealed, the show series called Laundry Dry revealed that the proceeds will go to fire relief and people affected by the fires. Tickets are $12. Check out their official website for more information.

Other venues supporting LA communities include The Troubadour (Jan. 22), the Garden AMP (Jan. 23), and the Lodge Room (Jan. 28).

We’ll keep updating this list as more shows are announced. For real-time updates regarding the wildfires, locals can check out the Watch Duty app, which alerts you of nearby wildfires and firefighting efforts.
