I love it when covers of classic songs take totally unprecedented directions. Raquel Berrios, who sings and produces under the Buscabulla moniker, grabbed this Fania golden age hit — penned by Tite Curet and popularized in the ’70s by Roberto Roena & Su Apollo — and somehow in a very respectful manner, managed to completely destroy the original groove of the song turning it into something totally new.

Her version of “Tu Loco Loco y Yo Tranquilo” has none of that street salsa swing left, instead the lyrics find a new home on a super laid-back downtempo beat that resembles the chill electronica that was so cool in the early 2000s.

So far it’s the only song Buscabulla has made available online. So, who knows if this is going to be the main formula for the project: doing slowed-down sexy covers of tropical dance songs, of if it’s more like a one time thing. Whichever it may be, it sounds quite interesting, I have to confess. But that’s besides the point, the point is that this is a really cool, loungy track and it’s free!
