Video: Candy's "Sin Control" [MEX]

It’s hard to find a band these days that just plain rocks. Usually, we encounter artists more concerned with belonging to a certain scene and sound, leaving stuff like songwriting to the side in order to play what’s in. Thankfully, there are still people who care, like Mexico City’s own Candy.

The band’s sound can be described as a mixture of gritty rock and luminescent pop melodies, all in the same song. They care about what matters most: writing good songs and rocking out.

Sin control” is a perfect example of what I’m talking about. The chorus features female vocals and bright sound color to contrast the verses, which are somehow more aggressive (and male) without getting too heavy. The music throughout is very proficient, they are not afraid to be ambitious and have exciting passages to pepper their poppy melodies.

The latest single to come off their second album, Control, has a brand-new video, produced by Binvida Films and directed by Raúl K. Legaspi. Visually, it complements the song perfectly as it features strobes and dark scenes for the verses and colorful sequences, with what look like ashes flying around the band as they play the song. While verses and chorus might seem opposite, they reveal to be two sides of the same coin.

We would very much appreciate more bands like Candy.
