Los Rakas’ “Chica de mi Corazón” picks up where the first video of the two-part series, “Sueño Americano,” left off, which showed Raka Dun’s character hastily exiting a crime scene, juxtaposed with a young boy darting through the alley ways of his original home of Nuevo Veranillo, Panama.

In the latest video, as Raka Dun awaits execution in jail, he raps and sings his way over a downtempo beat, broadcasting a nostalgic love letter dedicated to his mother, Josefina, who he had to leave behind in Panama. The earnest concept connects to Raka Dun’s lived-through experience, as he returned to his homeland to shoot the video after living undocumented in the United States for 12 years.

Los Rakas continue to step up to tell brave autobiographical accounts, leveraging bilingual hip hop to translate the grim complexities of immigration systems both in the US and abroad.
