You gotta love globalization sometimes. Paco Mendoza was born in Argentina to Peruvian and Paraguayan parents, but now lives in Berlin, where he leads the local mestizo music scene. DJ Vadim is a Russian hip-hop DJ/producer who at times calls both London and Berlin his hometowns, and sometimes New York, too.

Vadim is no stranger to collaborating with Spanish-speaking artists. Back in the early 2000s he laid down beats for Spain’s Mucho Muchacho. This time around he hooked up with Paco to put together a six-song EP, titled Lost Tapes. A cover of Argentine folk singer Atahualpa Yupanqui, “Los Ejes de mi Carreta,” is the first of those six songs to a get a video (shot in Lima). Released by Chusma Records, the EP is available in vinyl in Europe and anywhere else as an import (if you’re lucky and you dig hard enough).
