Video Premiere: Ritmo Machine's "This Day"

The connections and contrasts between New York and Chile –  that’s what Ritmo Machine‘s new video is all about.

Percussionist Eric Bobo was born in New York, where he made his live debut at age five playing alongside his father Willie, a legendary Latin soul pioneer. Turntablist Latin Bitman is from Chile but grew up looking up to New York as the Mecca where all his DJ idols were from.

Together they form Ritmo Machine, and this is their third official video. It was made as a collage of amateur video captured during their visits to New York and Chile, including their LAMC performance last year in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Keep an eye peeled and you might recognize some Remezcla staff mixed in there while they try on our botas picudas (good times!).

While we wait for Bobo’s next release (this time with an Argentine artists, to keep the South American thing going on, you know) we can continue to revisit this great 2012 album. And if you slept on it when it came out (how dare you!), this is a good excuse to catch up with one of the most interesting transcontinental collaborations ever imagined.
