Video: Protistas – "Videocámara"

SXSW is almost upon us and Protistas is one of the bands I’m looking forward to seeing perform in Austin this year. The group from Santiago is the latest from Chile to wow our ears with its catchy, indie/pop tunes such as “Videocámara.”

The track is the second single off Las Cruces, their second full-length album and their debut on Chilean label Cazador, home to some of our other favorites such as Adrianigual and Dënver. Why the long wait? I wish I knew but the wait was worth it.

The video, directed by vocalist/guitarist Álvaro Solar, is a hilarious and trippy affair that begins with the band discovering a portal to another land and dimension hidden inside Andrés Acevedo’s kick drum. Weirdness and cheap, comical green screen effects ensue in a land that’s like Yo Gabba Gabba on acid.

Someone get these guys on a bill with Astro and The Flaming Lips immediately!
