Anitta is continuing to blend her signature Brazilian funk roots with pop elements. On Oct. 19, the Brazilian pop star released her newest single, “MIL VECES,” part of her upcoming album Funk Generation. The new sensual music video features the Italian singer-songwriter Damiano David from the Italian rock band Måneskin.

“This is an incredible song! I love the attractive pop notes of its lyrics, which talk about a relationship that wasn’t meant to last but continues on and on, experiencing ups and downs,” Anitta said about the song in a press release. “It is crazy… it is a relationship dynamic that many people have already experienced. I think ‘Mil Veces’ will relate to many people.”

The new music video, directed by Jackson Tisi, features Anitta in a room reminiscing moments with an ex-lover. The visuals include steamy, sexy throwbacks, as well as heated arguments between the couple. Frames include the duo getting intimate in the shower; others show them arguing up close and yelling at each other face-to-face. Throughout the video, the duo goes back and forth between fights and lovemaking, demonstrating the struggles of a rocky relationship.

As far as working with David, Anitta said it was a good experience. “This video is really sexy! Sexy, dynamic, and it has a beautiful aesthetic… working with Damiano, who is endearing and has become a true friend, was incredible. I loved the end result and hope everyone likes it,” she said in the same press release.

“MIL VECES” follows Anitta’s last EP Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story. The three-song EP includes “Funk Rave,” “Casi Casi,” and “Used To Be,” which she performed during the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) on Sept. 12. She also won the award for Best Latin for her track “Funk Rave.”
