We are all in for icons inviting icons on stage. The latest unforeseen collaboration is Karol G’s live performance with Café Tacvba in Mexico City Arena (June 12). In an unexpected turn of music crossover events, they delivered a special performance of the Mexican rock band’s hit “Eres.”

“My invited guests here, on this stage, are artists whose music I grew up loving and listening to,” Karol G said while introducing half of the iconic Mexican band on stage. She then expressed how much she loved that song and added: “Always feel very proud of the artists from your land, from your country.”

The recorded video captured Emmanuel Del Real and Quique Rangel in their musical element, performing the popular classic with the “MAMIII” singer. During the song, Karol walks back and forth with each member, showing her appreciation and sharing this presumably once-in-a-lifetime moment with each.

“You don’t know what this song means to me. I didn’t even want to sing it on the microphone because I wanted to enjoy you guys,” Karol G tells Real and Rangel as they conclude the song. “If you are in love and you want to dedicate a song – this song says it all!”

The genre-bending performance was unexpected to many. “I’ve been to so many concerts that sometimes I feel like I can’t be surprised anymore,” a Twitter user commented. “Seeing Karol G singing ‘Eres’ with part of Café Tacvba live today is something I definitely didn’t see coming.”

This is the second special guest that Karol brought out during the Mexico stops of the “Bichota Tour Reloaded” this past weekend. In case you missed it, she invited ex-RBD member Anahí on Saturday (June 11) to perform “Sálvame” for the first in over a decade.

Will she continue the trend of bringing out local emblematic artists to perform with her during the rest of her tour? We’ll wait and see during her last “Bichota Tour Reloaded” performances in Honduras (June 15), Costa Rica (June 17), Panama (June 18), and El Salvador (June 19).
