Singer and songwriter Joel DELEŌN released a new single on Jan. 27 titled “Coco,” along with a new music video. Joel has been focusing on his soloist career ever since he left the Grammy-nominated group CNCO in 2021. This latest single is his second solo single after the success of “La Culpa,” which left his passionate fans wanting more.
With his new single, “Coco,” the Mexican American singer delivers an upbeat sound that feels fun and energetic. In the song and music video, Joel sings to his partner about how she drives him crazy with her coconut kisses. For the song, Joel partnered up with Cuban American recording artist Kat Dahlia and American DJ DallasK, who also produced the single. The singer co-wrote the up-tempo track with Puerto Rican singer GALE.
With the help of this all-star team, Joel is already evolving and committing to a musical style that feels authentic to him. “Coco” succeeds at delivering a vibe that we’re all striving for right now. And with millions of fans, he is bound to feel the love and support as he continues his solo journey.
Joel’s fans are excited for his solo career to take off. They’ve accepted and embraced his new identity, which isn’t taken for granted by the singer-songwriter. He took to Twitter to show how blessed he feels to have his fans’ support.
Joel, who was previously known as Joel Pimentel, changed his last name in homage to his late grandfather, Luis DELEŌN. The singer credits his grandfather as being the one who encouraged him to pursue music. Thanks to him, Joel decided to audition for La Banda, a Spanish-language U.S. singing competition series, from which CNCO was created.
