WATCH: Karol G Ushers in Summer with 2000s-Inspired Reggaeton Single ‘LATINA FOREVA’

Karol G’s new era is officially here! Following her heartfelt documentary KAROL G: MAÑANA FUE MUY BONITO, the Colombian superstar released her first official single “LATINA FOREVA” today (May 22).
After being MIA on social media for a few months, Karol came back to the spotlight when she released her intimate documentary via Netflix on May 8. With the film release, she also unveiled a new song called “Milagros” as part of the film’s soundtrack. “Milagros” featured a different musical side of the reggaeton star: her emotional vocals on top of a folk-pop tune. However, it turns out she has more music in store for 2025.
Fast forward to today, she’s back with her first single of the year, “LATINA FOREVA,” produced by Mazzarri and Misha. Starting with an altered beat that sounds like Don Omar’s “Dile,” the new track echoes early 2000s reggaeton with a pop tinge. With the single, the star also released a music video directed by Pedro Artola. The new visual features Karol’s signature sensuality as she sings about “Te-te y nalga,” surrounded by her crew in snowmobiles, enjoying their time in the snow. Another notable highlight is the song’s outro, which samples Alexa Demie asking, “Why does everybody ask me if I’m Latina, isn’t it obvious?”
The new track also mirrors the familiar cadence of N.O.R.E. and Nina Sky’s iconic collaboration “Oye Mi Canto.” An X user wrote: “Karol G’s ‘Latina Foreva’ sounds similar to Oye Mi Canto in some parts! Particularly to the ‘Boricua, Morena’ in the latter. I wonder if there was some direct inspiration from the song.” Other social media users are ready for Karol’s next era. An X user commented: “KAROL G’S SEXIEST ERA HAS ARRIVED.”
While we don’t know what’s next for Karol, it looks like she’s ushering in a new era featuring her natural brown hair. “I went back to my natural color of my hair because there’s so much going on right now. So much coming right now,” she said in a recent interview. “And I think I really wanted to be like my most natural and original and authentic and genuine version of myself.”
