Los Rakas return to the streets of Oakland for their latest video, “We Dem Rakaz (Hola),” flipping Wiz Khalifa’s “We Dem Boyz” into a fresh party anthem for their international crowds. The video, directed by Vitamin Productions, works as a portrait of the Bay Area’s relatively recent scraper bike culture–creating extra-personalized bikes using recycled materials–as los Rakas’ crew cruise around Lake Merritt in Oakland.
“We have the same thing in Panama,” commented Raka Rich about the scraper bikes in the video. “It’s about people re-using what they have and doing something dope with it. It’s happening in ghettos everywhere,” says Raka Dun.
