The FIFA World Cup is all sports enthusiasts are currently talking about. Since it started, we’ve seen how our Latine communities celebrate, and now we even know how Los Tucanes de Tijuana’s frontman Mario Quintero parties. Yes, the norteño band’s leader is present in Qatar – and thriving while at it.

It’s no surprise that Los Tucanes’ “La Chona” is one of the Mexican community’s go-to classics. Since Quintero has been in Qatar, he’s posted social media videos of the sports fandom as they sing and dance to the song. But the vocalist took it one step further and started posting selfie POV videos of him singing along with the fans. Imagine partying with the hitmaker himself?

Un día soñé con bailar La Chona en un mundial, pero nunca pensé que sería con el vocalista de los Los Tucanes De Tijuana

One of the TikTok videos that went viral was Oberto Vera’s post with the singer on Nov. 22. “One day I dreamed of dancing La Chona at a World Cup, but I never thought it would be with the lead singer of Los Tucanes De Tijuana,” he wrote online. The Facebook post now has 3.7 million views and counting.

Though Mexico hasn’t won a game yet, Quintero’s still hyping up the crowd. In a recent post, he said: “#LaChona with Mariachi in the Hospitality Lounge at the @lusailstadiumofficial after the Mexico vs Argentina match. We lost, but we still had fun!!! #LaChona #marioquintero #lostucanesdetijuana from Doha, Qatar! Chulada de raza!!! #vivamexico.”

Furthermore, it seems the “La Chona” singer is making the best out of the trip, despite his country’s scores. He has posted videos at Dubai’s aquarium and mall with his sweetheart. Will he stay in town for the third game scheduled on Nov. 30 against Saudi Arabia?

The emblematic group has recently dropped the infectious EDM-infused track “Yo Las Pongo” alongside the Mexican-American DJ and producer Deorro and Dominican music producer Maffio.

The FIFA World Cup is taking place now to Dec. 18.
