Regardless of the RBD reunion’s success, it looks like former member Alfonso “Poncho” Herrera is still missed on tour. On Oct. 13, Christopher von Uckermann opened up about RBD during an interview with Yordi Rosado, touching on subjects like missing Herrera, plans for another reunion, and what separated the group in the first place.
During the chat, von Uckermann reveals that the group missed Herrera on last year’s reunion tour. However, he says he can’t force him to join the group and knows his passion is acting. When asked if he missed him on tour, he said: “I think that when it came to challenges [we faced], I feel that certain issues wouldn’t have happened if we had all been there.”
When asked if the group had plans to continue their tour, he said that if it weren’t for their legal troubles, the now five-piece band would’ve continued with performances in Argentina, Peru, and more of Latin America. He also said that Spain was also part of their tour plans. When further asked about what happened, he said that he couldn’t talk about it but that the band knew they had to stop to avoid repeating past financial mishaps. Though he didn’t talk about specifics, he said everything would come to light in the end. When asked if the group will ever get back together again, he answered yes, if things get fixed.
He also recounted RBD’s decision to end things after their final concert as a six-piece group. He said that after Spain in 2008, the members wanted to go their own paths after feeling exhausted – specifically Herrera and him. He said they both wanted to continue their acting career, even though some members wanted to extend the concerts. “It definitely felt like a momentary farewell after 20 years – it was emotional – but at the same time necessary,” he said. “Like, ‘I love you, but la máquina can’t do it anymore.’ It was necessary. We couldn’t extend it one more night.”
