WATCH: Shakira Performs ‘La Tortura’ with Alejandro Sanz During First U.S. Stop

Shakira finally kicked off the U.S. leg of her global Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour! On May 13, the Colombian superstar performed at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC, featuring special guests and a new setlist, including her classic “La Tortura.”
Shak’s setlist has been evolving, depending on the region she’s performing in. For example, in Mexico, she added a mariachi-inspired medley featuring a fan-favorite track “Ciega, Sordomuda” meshed with “El Jefe,” her collaboration with Fuerza Regida. Though she scratched both songs off the stateside setlist (at least for now), the singer surprised her fans with two special guests and a new song addition during her stop in Charlotte.
Her first U.S. show included special guests Alejandro Sanz for their iconic crossover collaboration “La Tortura,” which just celebrated its 20th anniversary last month. They last performed the song together six years ago during Sanz’s 2019 tour stop in Barcelona, Spain. After the show, Sanz posted a video of the performance with the caption: “Shaki: Can I tell you the truth? Even with all the coffee in Colombia, I can’t get rid of your scent.”
Another special guest during this stop was Wyclef Jean. Shak and Wyclef are also celebrating 20 years of their global hit “Hips Don’t Lie.” Following their recent performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the duo brought the same energy on stage. After the performance, Wyclef posted a recap with the caption: “@Shakira Thank you for the love #NorthCarolina !!!! @D-Nice The love is unmatched !!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾.”
Beyond the special guests, the “TQG” also modified her setlist. She added her hit “Underneath Your Clothes” to the mix. However, on this stop, she skipped songs like “Cómo Dónde y Cuándo,” “Poem to a Horse,” and the aforementioned tracks “Ciega, Sordomuda” and “El Jefe.”
