Shakira is surprising her fans while touring her way through Latin America. On Mar. 19, the Colombian pop star performed her first of seven sold-out shows at the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City, Mexico. But get this: she added two new songs to her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour setlist: “Ciega, Sordomuda” and “El Jefe.”

“My beautiful Mexico, First night of 7 and it has been amazing! Together we are making history and breaking a historical record with these seven concerts in Mexico City,” she wrote in Spanish online after the performance. “Tonight we have howled together, I have given everything and you have given everything to me. I love you all so much!”

Shakira made Mexico City’s first night extra special. Throughout the tour, she’s been surprising fans by covering songs and alternating the languages she sings her hits.  But in Mexico, she decided to add a mariachi-inspired medley featuring a fan-favorite track “Ciega, Sordomuda” meshed with “El Jefe,” her collaboration with Fuerza Regida. Accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of Mariachi Gama 1000, the star sang both songs as part of her first night’s repertoire, giving her fans a special treat that highlighted música mexicana.

In this new version of “Ciega, Sordomuda,” La Loba adds an extra bounce by highlighting the song’s bass. Before hitting the song’s second verse, she instead echoes the chorus twice to make way for her newest album’s track, “El Jefe.” During “El Jefe,” she dances the same steps she does in the music video with one of her musicians who fills in for Fuerza’s vocalist Jesús Ortiz Paz, aka JOP.

Fans are excited about the songs’ inclusion. An X user wrote in Spanish: “THE CIEGA SORDOMUDA/EL JEFE SEGMENT IS THE PEAK OF THE EUPHORIA. IT HAS TO STAY FOR ALL TOUR DATES.”

This isn’t the first time Shakira has performed “Ciega, Sordomuda” with mariachi. In 1999, the Colombian star reinvented the classic hit with mariachi as part of her MTV Unplugged. You can now stream the epic performance via Paramount+.
