On June 1, the Mexican singer Sofia Reyes released the music video for her latest single, “24/7,” off her latest LP, Mal De Amores. The video shows two women who are friends of Reyes — singer Nicole Zignago and her partner, photographer Fernanda “Fer” Piña — lounging around and playfully running through a hotel room wearing white button-down shirts and underwear. The two are kissing, laughing, and cuddling as Reyes sings about thinking about someone 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“When you hug me I feel peace/Squeeze me a little bit, a little bit more,” she croons, “I swear, I promise you I won’t bite/Here there is only love of that kind.” The song continues with a description of how happy this person makes Reyes before The Change joins in to harmonize in the latter half of the song. About the video, Reyes said in a press statement that she gave her two friends full creative control to do whatever they wanted.

She explained the meaning behind the song to Rolling Stone earlier this year: “This one is a very easy song to understand. It’s very beautiful, uplifting. I wrote it at a stage when I was falling in love. It feels magical to me, but also it was a challenge to make it minimal. With this song, that’s what I went for. I wanted to keep it very simple and honest and flow-y.”

The video is meant to highlight the relationship between two of Reyes’ close friends. Reyes has previously worked with both of the ladies — Zignago helped her write “1, 2, 3” featuring Jason Derulo, and Piña was the photographer behind the lens of the single cover for “Mal De Amores” with Becky G and “Marte.”

In February, Remezcla spoke with Reyes about her new album and said that the project means a lot to her, “I got to meet a lot of people along the way that became family to me.” She continues, “I feel like as an artist, I am able to understand with more clarity who I am.”
