The word mixtape has plenty of different interpretations. It used to be that mixtapes were actually DJ sets recorded on cassette tapes, but with the coming of the digital music age, the name remained the same, but the definition expanded. Nowadays, people call mixtapes many different things, some of which are not necessarily mixed and most of which were never taped. Here we try to cover them all. In this column, Juan Data gives you a worthy one every week.

DJ: Los Indajaus
MIXTAPE: Gozadera Fina Vol. 2

In case you were wondering how they throw down a killer global bass party in Cali, Colombia, the boy-girl DJ duo Los Indajaus have an hour-long mixtape that will satiate that curiosity.

Los Indajaus are Alex Jaramillo and Tatiana Soto (a.k.a. Tatitron) and together they’re an explosive combo. On Gozadera Fina Vol. 2 they make a point of showing off their versatility, mixing in pretty much every modern hybrid genre imaginable, while always keeping the energy way up there and all asses on the dance floor. Lots of moombah madness, tribal drums, and rare electropical remixes, with some unexpected twists and turns, clean transitions, and a really nice cover art.

This is the kind of mixtape you need to download and carry around with you everywhere because you never know when you might need to blast it at an impromptu house party and save the night.
