Update 12:15 p.m. ET

According to a press release, Zion was hospitalized after having difficulty breathing and experiencing extensive pain in his torso. After a full spectrum of tests at a Mexico City hospital, it was determined the cause was due to “a combination of physical exhaustion, fatigue and stress from travel 16 days in a row and having very little rest.”

Zion also took to his Instagram stories to address his fans and thank them for their support, assuring everyone he will be ok.

Puerto Rican reggaetonero Zion, of the legendary duo Zion & Lennox, was reportedly hospitalized in Mexico City last night. His representative, Elizabeth Sánchez, has yet to confirm why exactly the 38-year-old ended up in urgent care—however, according to El Nuevo Día, Zion’s manager, Zurdo, revealed that he first began to feel sick while on a flight en route to Mexico.

“He felt bad on the plane. We were on our way here to Mexico for the Spotify awards, where we have a performance,” he explained this morning on the radio show “El Relajo de la X” (100.7 FM). “It was all right and [then] for a moment it’s like the air went out. We landed and it was bad, staggering. We didn’t know. I sent Lennox to the hotel and went with [Zion] to the hospital.”

Zurdo added, “They honestly don’t know and they’ve done a lot of things to him. I’m with him alone. He’s aware.”

According to Primera Hora, Sánchez confirmed as much and suggested that they are still waiting on medical results to determine what happened to Zion (whose real name is Félix Ortiz Torres).

Lennox, a.k.a. Gabriel Enrique Pizarro, took to Instagram to share a photo of Zion in the hospital and request prayers of support.

“We ask for a prayer chain for our brother Zion, may God have control and everything go well,” reads his Instagram caption.
