So, last night I was hanging out with some crazy old friends, and somehow world languages became the topic of conversation. Portuguese of course came up as one of the sexist of tongues. My point is that Zuzuka Poderosa proves there’s power behind every syllable.
If Bonde do Rolê had a love child with M.I.A. & Diplo‘s Piracy Funds Terrorism with all that favela-funk/ baile funk vibe, the first words from their sonic offspring would be in Brazilian psicodelia. Just back from her tour through London and Berlin, with this latest single “Psicodelia” (a Nego Moçambique remix), Zuzuka sets to release her EP Carioca Bass, due out next month on Little Owl Recordings. It will feature two original tracks, this track and “Seda,” both produced by Kush Arora, and six remixes from Nego, Jubilee & Burt Fox, Sonora, Chrissy Murderbot, HxdB, and CEE!!!. Also, if you happen to be around the Brooklyn area, be sure to check Zuzuka out tomorrow at House of Yes.
