This is it, friends. After we shared a teaser for Alex Anwandter‘s new single, “Siempre Es Viernes En Mi Corazón,” the first off his upcoming album Amiga, we immediately braced ourselves for the return of Alex’s signature dance pop firestorm. Well, we’re happy to say that now we can go ahead and do just that, because the full song is finally here.

The teaser prepared us for a full-on disco symphony, à la “Cómo Puedes Vivir Contigo Mismo,” but “Siempre” turned out to be even bigger than that. The chorus is as catchy as it gets, and the beat and bass line will force even the most apathetic of wallflowers to turn up. This song is meant to be a hit, not only because of its colossal synths – which are on par with any international pop tune out right now – but also because of its expertly crafted, emotional composition.

There are a few surprises here, too. One of them is the vocal contribution from pop-savvy Argentine artists Ale Sergi and Juliana Gattas of Miranda!, who embellish and enhance the rich vocal harmonies. There’s also Anwandter’s attention to politics, despite the song’s Friday night spirit. He sings lines like, “La Iglesia me manda al infierno/ya el Congreso pienso que estoy enfermo,” responding with the vendetta-seeking words “si quiero prenderle fuego a algo/que sea a la Iglesia y el Congreso,” reinforcing his commitment to social justice and LGBTQ rights.

Amiga is out April 8 on Nacional Records.
