Andrea Balency surprised us last year with the release of her Walls EP. Her turn to an R&B-inspired style was both unexpected and welcomed. Luckily, we won’t have to wait that long to hear more from her, as she’s got a new EP lined up for us called Volcano, once again on French label Bataille Music.
“Deep Sunk” is the first single off Volcano, and while she sounds less pop than on, say, “You’ve Never Been Alone,” she enchants ears with her vocal explorations. We find her jumping notes up and down in crazy intervals, like Kate Bush used to, but less dramatic and more intimate. The production work is elegant and resembles contemporary UK sounds.
