When Bad Bunny’s debut album X100PRE dropped in December, there’s a good chance most listeners were surprised to see El Conejo Malo dabbling in pop punk. “Tenemos Que Hablar” gave fans a sneak peek at his love for rock, and for the tiny percentage of listeners who wish El Conejo Malo was a little bit more drone-y, we have some great news.

YouTube user Joaquín Fuentes was surely one of those who believed San Benito could collide dream pop and trap, so he took the matter into his own hands. Fuentes selected “Tenemos Que Hablar” and mashed it up with the classic My Bloody Valentine cut “When You Sleep,” creating My Bunny Valentine.

The results are not quite as ethereal as one would hope; rather, the track inadvertently draws parallels between the X100PRE cut and some of the biggest alternative rock classics from the 90s, so it will have us thinking about Bad Bunny starting a grunge band for the rest of the week. We’re not complaining.

No word yet if Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio – or MBV frontman Kevin Shields, for that matter – has heard the mashup, but we will be on the lookout.  If this inspires him to pick up a guitar and a few dozen distortion pedals for his next project, may we suggest he collaborate with Balún next?

Check out the mashup below:
