The new series of releases by electronic imprint Cocobass is as refreshing as its name hints. The first release off #COCADAa cold and beachy coconut drink—was Dahni‘s retro-futuristic funk track “Betamax“; now it’s young Mexican production duo Chase the Devil‘s turn, and they decided to take tropical bass to Oriental territories.

Jigoku 地獄,” which is the Japanese Buddhist word for “hell,” is appropriately dark, but it’s also fun and highly danceable. The song is built around samples from East Asian music, giving it a mysterious atmosphere. It’s founded on a fast Latin beat, and although it sounds like these two ideas would clash, they actually work together pretty well.
