With every release, Venezuelan producer Daniel Elorza seems willing to try it all. Under his previous moniker, Kiev, we found him digging into dubstep and UK funk; and in his recent releases as Dahni, we’ve heard his appreciation for old-school house. But on his new single, “Betamax,” he’s all about the funk. 80s electronic funk, to be precise. The song is filled with retro sounds with a futuristic approach, and a bassline that is the star of the song. Occasional bursts of sub-bass hit your chest, while a constant vocoded voice tells us a story, but it’s frankly unintelligible.
And who else could possibly bring you a track this fresh? That’s right. It’s out now on Cocobass.
