Mexican duo HOAX released their debut single “Strange Ways” over a year ago. It’s a dark and wickedly sensual song in both sound and words. They’re now injecting life back into it by releasing an accompanying music video that succeeds in visually capturing the essence of the song.
The main characters are two women shrouded in mystery from start to finish, moving sensually and engaging in what looks like witchy ritualistic acts involving fire and blood. Also present are band members Pichi and Rafa, wearing fencing masks like the ones they use in their press photos, looking immutable and freakish. The visuals are both attractive and intimidating in a so-wrong-it’s-right kind of way.
