Over the long weekend, Major Lazer dropped an extended version of their latest album Peace is The Mission with four new tracks. Among them is a collaboration with our favorite neo-chola songstress Kali Uchis called “Wave.”
The song plays to the strengths of both the Colombian singer and Diplo and co., with Kali oozing her signature smoky sex appeal over a lazily rolling reggae slow jam riddim. While the entirety of the new Peace is The Mission edition – which includes Ty Dolla $ign, MØ covering Frank Ocean’s “Lost,” and more – is a strong offering, we’d be more than content to hear an entire Major Lazer project featuring nothing but Kali’s vocals blessing lovers rock instrumentals like this.
Still riding the momentum of her debut EP Por Vida, which was released in February, Kali seems poised for even more widespread success in 2016.
