Kali Uchis Continues Spanish-Language Streak With Colombian Reggaetonero Reykon on “Nuestro Planeta”

In the run up to her album release, Colombian crooner Kali Uchis has shown she has a heightened resolve to connect to her public in Spanish. Today she dropped “Nuestro Planeta,” a sweet dancehall bop with Colombian pop reggaetonero Reykon in which Kali attempts to recreate the insular universe she once inhabited with a drifting lover: “Yo conozco en realidad quien eres/Lo se, todavía me quieres.”

It’s part of a recent string of tracks en español we’ve seen from the R&B singer. The first release off her upcoming LP was “Tyrant,” a sugar-sweet dancehall track that quickly received a Spanish version with Dominican trapper Fuego and few collaborations could have made her fellow Colombians happy than her Spanglish feature on “El Ratico” with Juanes.

Reykon has had his eyes set on the U.S. market at least since 2015, when he released a bilingual single with songwriter Bebe Rexha for the Copa de Oro broadcast on Univision. At that time, “El Líder” clarified that his own expansion goals were not limited to Gringolandia: “Estados Unidos es el país al que quiero llegar, sin dejar de lado otros más. Tengo el sueño americano, el ecuatoriano, el boliviano…”
