Comunité debuted in early 2016 amdist an ever-growing sea of music festivals in Mexico – but they’re standing out with a fresh new perspective. In addition to taking place on the beautiful beaches of Tulum and hosting a killer electronic-leaning lineup, Comunité has a strong commitment to environmental justice, with festival organizers making a concerted effort to give back to local communities. This year, a percentage of festival profits will be used to support Restore Coral, an organization devoted to preserving the remaining coral reefs left in the Caribbean Sea. Considering the festival is also 100 percent vegan, Comunité is putting in work when it comes to building a sustainable and equitable future for the planet.
Only weeks before the festival kicks off, we’re premiering a song by our favorite cosmic duo in a brand new outfit. Mexico-based Argentine weirdos Frikstailers’ new project Klik & Frik will debut at Comunité in January. This project explores a more introspective, subdued, and mystical side of Lisandro Sona and Rafael Caivano’s musical minds. Their new single “Fehl” represents this spiritual ethos perfectly; the crunchy percussion is softened with ethereal synth pads and a trancelike beat. Klik & Frik are putting finishing touches on their debut album, which will feature collaborations with Chancha Via Circuito, Nicola Cruz, and more.
Catch Klik & Frik alongside heavyhitters like Omar-S, Kyle Hall, Project Pablo, and Latinx artists like Dengue Dengue Dengue, Mexican it producer OLY, and Leo Leal in Dos Ojos Park this January.
Comunité will take place on January 6 and 7, 2017. For more information, check out the flyer below or click here.
