“La Moneda En El Aire” is a very important song for the Spanish band La Habitación Roja. It’s not only the title song of their latest album (released last year) but it will also lead a new EP that will be available on January 12th on digital services everywhere. It’s just one of the many significant things going on with this song in particular, but La Habitación has plenty more to celebrate right now.
Listeners can hear a brand new remix of the track, courtesy of David Kano who has previously done similar work for artists such as El Columpio Asesino. The reimagined cut strips the layered jangly guitars of the original in favor of pushing the melody forward, bringing out the inherent catchiness of the song. Kano adds some electronic beats and synths to transform the hopeful/pretty feeling of “La Moneda…” into a more joyful one; it’s happier, catchier and definitely dancier. For all we know, we might be looking at a crossover hit right here.
La Moneda En El Aire EP will not only feature the original track and this remix but also a new track called “Mañana Saldrá Mejor.” This is the first of what will be many celebratory events this year for La Habitación Roja who turn 20 in 2015, further nods including festival appearances and a date at revered London venue La Scala. Also, keep an eye out for a brand new video of the song directed by René De La Rosa, which will coincide with the EP’s release.
Here’s to twenty more.
