It’s hard to believe that this is Las Robertas’ first music video ever. We’ve grown so used to their presence. They show up on our end-of-year lists, our recommendations to friends, our festival lineups, and we’ve hung on their every lyric through multiple member changes. So to think that their first music video is happening now, in 2014, is a bit odd. But here we are, appreciative nonetheless.
“Marlene,” off their current Days Unmade, gets the honor via director María “Lulu” Martínez, who evocatively brings French New Wave and VHS together in one collage.
