Premiere: Fakuta’s “Despacio” Proves Going out Really is the Answer

Continuing the promotion for her 2014 LP Tormenta Solar, Fakuta is premiering her video for “Despacio,” a stark black and white portrait of three young friends getting out there to dance on a weeknight.

Directed by Rosario González, the video was filmed on an actual night out in Santiago with a cast made up not by actors but emerging electronic music talents from Chile, starring Marvin Marlyn, Yih Capsule and Alpha Stronggah. According to Fakuta, they didn’t have a planned schedule for the night’s shoot, so that probably added another layer of randomness and excitement to the experience.

The true spontaneity shown in the video and the retropop sound of “Despacio” makes the song’s theme come to life on the screen and leaves us with the impression that there is no place for angst in the dance floor, nor better cure for it than the infinite nights in a city.

Put on your dancing shoes and hit the play button.
