STELLA Drops a Throwback to the Good Old Days of Smoky Soul With “Fumes”

The last we heard from STELLA was her smoky, sexy cover of Drake’s “Hotline Bling.” Earlier this week, she shared a new track called “Fumes,” proving once again that she’s all about seduction. Carlos Santana’s daughter and up-and-coming R&B diva tapped Frankie P to produce this slow-burning number, which references the good old days of soul, complete with some sax fills that wash the track in a smooth, jazzy bath and heighten the sultry vibe of the song. The tune is actually about heartbreak, though, as evidenced by Stella’s gut-wrenching lyrics, including lines like, “Picking up the pieces from the promises you broke.” But the way she delivers her vocals is so sweet, instead of making us wipe our tears, we just ended up enamored with her.
