The Suicide of Western Culture Are Back With More Emotionally-Charged Post-Rock

In late March, the guys from Spain’s Primavera Sound festival are putting out Catalan electronic duo The Suicide of Western Culture‘s third album on their El Segell del Primavera imprint, and they just shared its first single, along with some killer remixes.

The track, “Still Breathing but Already Dead,” is what we’ve come to expect from these two fellows: distorted synth sounds on the verge of noise with an underlying melodic heart, over a steady, trance-inducing beat. With influences from shoegaze and krautrock, the song goes on for almost six minutes – though majestic string synth sounds save it from monotony.

We also get a remix by Swedish producer The Field, who brings up the stuttery synth that’s beneath the original track, and takes it to an acid techno dancefloor. Spanish artist Hugo Capablanca also gives it a shot, and his remix nods at disco, but more sinister and dense.
