On April 17, Twin Shadow’s tour bus collided with a tractor-trailer in Colorado, leaving many injured and the band’s Eclipse tour cancelled. While recuperating from the ordeal, George Lewis, Jr. put together a mixtape of demos he recorded between 2010 and 2014. The 44-minute mixtape includes (but is not limited to): catchy hooks, bad poetry, off-key moments, incoherent dialogue, hit-or-miss samples, synth abuse, big pop flourishes, missed opportunities, and exciting messiness. For those of us who often think Twin Shadow is too pristine or too taut, the Night Rally Mixtape is a good alternative.
