GHE20G0TH1K‏ extraordinaire Venus X always keeps great company. At her legendary NYC parties (which may go monthly in LA soon), she frequently shares the stage with club music’s biggest names (DEBIT, LSDXOXO, and Ase Manual are next in line for the February 24 installment). Of course, Venus also makes sure to spend a little time with her mixer – and other DJs – to work on new music. Remember her devastating joint mix with Fatima Al Qadiri for Hood By Air? Exactly.

This time, she partnered with none other than Asmara (Nguzunguzu’s Asma Maroof) for a massive new mixtape that will burst out of your speakers. Maroof (who is reportedly finishing her upcoming solo EP) and Venus returned home from a trip to São Paulo bubbling with inspiration after playing with MC Pikachu, MC Brinquedo, Mano DJ, and Yuri Martins, some of the most exciting names in funk paulista. The pair learned that Brazilians really do love American rap, and a lightbulb went off.

Putaria Maxima Volume 1 (a title borrowed from a DJ R7 track included here) blends tunes from Top 40 rap stars with sizzling baile funk jams. This is a world where Migos and MC Magrinho go hand-in-hand, where MC Bin Laden’s rhythmic “tumba” from his “Passinho do Faraõ” makes perfect sense alongside Lil Uzi Vert. To add to the excitement, Korn, Linkin Park, and Evanesence crashed the party – and we’re not even mad. There’s also space for some Skepta, Asmara’s bandmate NA, Ynfynyt Scroll, and Prayers (!), but they never stop juggling baile funk and trap beats.
