Rosetta Stone in this Mothafucka: MLKMN Drops Debut Album with Spanglish Low Rider Anthem Video

Cultura Dura is a Remezcla and Mike’s HARDER content and event series highlighting emerging Latin urban culture. We’ll be exploring scenes that haven’t really gotten any coverage anywhere else – from block parties and street art to underground sports and raw, young artists making movements pa’ la calle.

Border kid and rapper/producer MLKMN is having his major labor debut moment on Universal Music Latin Entertainment with Milkstape dropping today.

Just for the occasion, MLKMN released a lyric video for his Spanglish lowrider anthem “Bounce.” The video shows MLKMN cruising in the passenger’s seat to the tune of his tejano hip-hop track with collaborator/homie El Dusty behind the wheel, setting the perfect scene for the rapper to deliver lines like “Rosetta Stone in this mothafucka” for (probably?) the first time in hip-hop historia.

For a behind-the-scenes look at MLKMN’s studio practice, check out our exclusive #CulturaDura video where the artist explains his border town mentality that he processes through a hip-hop filter–an encounter of sounds rooted in his upbringing between Monterrey and Laredo, Texas, where 808s and booty bass gloriously collides. As a beat maker and lyricist, MLKMN roots his inspiration in formative party-hopping experiences at quinceañeras that doubled as sound clashes, where the DJ could fluidly hop between el General and “El Tiburón” to classic Southern hip-hop from UGK.
