São Paulo’s VINÍ Emerges as the Next Prince of Baile Funk with ‘Coringa’ Remix EP

VINÍ, currently São Paulo’s top purveyor of baile funk, now sees his Coringa EP (MAN Recordings) from July remixed by a quartet of globally-respected tunesmiths. Each of the four tracks from the original was remixed by a different producer. Portugal’s Kking Kong goes deep on the funky moombahton and trap heater “Vai,” in what could be the remix EP’s standout production. Rio’s Sydney flips the tempo on the breaks of “Bandida Arlequina” and washes the track in a more classic baile funk vibe, instead of the near dub reggae groove of the original. It’s all thanks to that legendary tamborzão.

Big room house battles with underground funk on the dance floor in “Agente do Caos.” Fellow São Paulo producer Sants goes into a minimalist cave and re-emerges with this dank, deep, and mysterious whisper of a track. Brazilian duo Flying Buff offer up a hyper-speed take on baile trap with their remix of the title track. It isn’t as turnt up as the original, but it’s definitely ready for a peak-hour rinse or ten.
