Watch: Hidrogenesse’s “El Hombre de Barro” Shot & Mixed in VHS

Hidrogenesse are always surfing between fun and disturbing territories, both sonically and visually. The new music video for “El Hombre de Barro,” the first single off their latest album, Roma (2015, Austrohúngaro), exemplifies this to perfection.

Genís and Carlos teamed up with Los Ganglios for the visuals, which were shot and mixed entirely in VHS. It shows both band members as floating heads, singing and smiling in a creepy manner. Throw in old movie clips and old-school editing trickery and you have these 4:43 minutes of visual weirdness – a fitting companion to the amusing song, which is like a weird blend between Matías Aguayo and Sparks.
