Presenting her third single in anticipation of the release of her third album, Javiera Mena is making her big statements. First, she revealed the racy cover art for Otra Era, which was more surprising considering the last thing she did was the nerd friendly video for “La Joya.” Now, she follows the reveal with a new song that will make everybody more anxious to hear the whole record.
Following the footsteps of the material that has been released so far, “Otra Era” is a synthpop slice of charm and festiveness. In this new song, Javiera talks about a lover from another time, place and dimension; a mysterious figure that fascinates her. The song is as catchy as her recent songs come, and makes an argument for it to be her strongest and most melodic work to date.
