David Oranday has amassed a notable amount of success in the electronic scene both inside and outside the Mexican borders with his Teen Flirt moniker, especially after the release of his Welcome Home EP, put out last year on his own Finesse Records imprint. There’s no way he was going to drop the ball, and we’ve got an exclusive preview of his upcoming three-track mini EP, due early June.
“Empire” is one of Teen Flirt’s stunning future-R&B numbers, where female vocal samples are chopped and pitched up and down, placed over a bed of pillowy synth pads, and adorned with a bright, arpeggiated synthetic sound. As for the beat – it references hip hop, but it’s deep and nuanced, and the end product screams “romance” from start to finish.
