Cardi B announced on Sunday (November 19) that she no longer supports President Biden. During an Instagram Live, she explained that she was dropping her support for Biden after seeing public service cuts in her hometown of New York City.

“In New York, there is a $120-million budget cut that’s going to affect schools, public libraries, and the police department,” the music artist said. “And a $5-million budget cut in sanitation. We’re gonna be drowning f**king in rats.”

She also suggested that the cuts were coming because the United States couldn’t afford to send military aid to Ukraine and Israel to defend themselves against Russia and Hamas.

“I’m endorsing no presidents no more,” she said. “Joe Biden is talking about, ‘Yeah, we can fund two wars,’ … talking about, ‘Yeah, we got it, we’re the greatest nation.’ No… we’re not. We don’t got it, and we’re going through some shit right now. So, say it!”

Many were quick to call out the misinformation of Cardi B’s statements, in which the budget cuts that New York is currently experiencing have nothing to do with Biden or the amount of money the federal government is sending to Ukraine and Israel. User @2RawTooReal said he would hold her accountable for giving her 169 million Instagram followers incorrect info.

“[Biden] don’t control your local state government,” @2RawTooReal said. “What’s going on in New York State is New York State problems.” He also explained that the U.S. Congress, not the President, sets the federal budget.

Another social media user, @tify330, also released a video responding to the misinformation Cardi B had released.

“At the end of the day, Congress has to pass the budget,” @tify330 said. “To blame Joe Biden for the New York City budget is absurd.”
