ICYMI (or need a little something to brighten up your day): Barcelona Sporting Club – the most successful soccer club in Ecuador – just won over our hearts after making 102-year-old Maria Guadalupe’s dream of taking part in a training session and posing with the team a reality.
Guadalupe has followed Barcelona SD since its very inception in 1925, when Eutimio Pérez emigrated from the Catalan capital and founded the team in the western Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil. This is peak cuteness and super fan goals. She even got a hug from squad star Damián Díaz.
The club has won the Ecuadorian Serie A a record 14 times – most recently in 2012 – and was the country’s first side to feature in a Copa Libertadores final in 1960. What’s not to love.
