Amanda Serrano put on the performance of her life on Friday night (October 28) when she beat Danila Ramos by unanimous decision to retain her IBF, WBO and WBA titles. It was the first-ever unified women’s championship fight with 12 three-minute rounds.

After the fight, Serrano made sure everyone knew that giving her and Ramos the opportunity to fight 12 three-minute rounds just like the men was the right decision, especially since the action never slowed down during their fight.

In all, Serrano and Ramos threw a total of 1,949 punches. Serrano threw 1,103 and Ramos threw 846. For comparison, Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo together threw 783 punches during their fight last month.

“What’s so funny is that when I was in there, I really couldn’t feel the difference,” Serrano said. “In the sixth round, I was like, ‘Is it really three minutes or did they go back to two minutes?’ I felt good. I was in really good shape. I trained really hard for this fight knowing I had to go out there and prove to everybody, prove people right or prove people wrong, that women can do whatever they put their minds to.”

Moving forward, Serrano is only interested in fighting three-minute rounds. Her team said they would not entertain the idea of getting into the ring with any potential challengers if they wanted her to go back to fighting two-minute rounds.

“I’m blessed & in the position to call the shots in my career,” Amanda Serrano wrote on social media. “I sell arenas out & those are the benefits that come w/that. I was never in this position b4 so I’m grateful & thankful. I’ll be letting my fans know what’s coming next soon. It’s going to be epic! I Promise.”
