Former Miss Universe Amelia Vega is having a blast supporting her husband as he competes for an NBA title for the first time in his 15-year career — and she’s recording it all for her Instagram followers. Her husband, Boston Celtics center Al Horford, is currently playing in the 2022 NBA Finals. Horford is the first Dominican player to ever play in the championship series. He has been married to Vega since 2011, and they have four children.

Vega, who won Miss Universe in 2003, has been posting minute-by-minute updates on her Instagram Stories during the games. From the sidelines, she gives a close-up glimpse at some shots, cheering on her husband and nervously eating snacks providing funny commentary. Her followers have been enjoying her play-by-play, with one of her cheers going viral from a previous game.

“Ay, papa!” Vega yelled from her seat during Game 1 of the NBA Finals, shouted from the stands a few rows behind the Celtics’ bench in the Chase Center in San Francisco. Game 1 was on June 3, which also happened to be Horford’s 36th birthday. As Vegas cheered for him, she also shouted a “Happy birthday!” while he was shooting free throws and called him, “My king.”

Vega also showed support on her feed with a post of the family together on the court. “[I am] very grateful to the Lord for this experience that we have been able to live on your side, my love,” Vega wrote in the caption. “More than proud of your performance on and off the court. Thank you for being an example of perseverance for many of us who observe with the deepest admiration your discipline, dedication, perseverance, effort, professionalism, humility, and above all, your gratitude to God.”

Horford led his team with 26 points to an upset victory and is currently up 2-1 in the series against the Golden State Warriors. Game 4 takes place June 10 in Boston.

Horford and the Celtics just might be on their way to their first NBA Championship since the franchise’s 2007-2008 season — and it’s clear Vega is ready to cheer them on all the way through.
