Mexico’s Copa América 2024 run is over. The Mexican National Team tied 0-0 with Ecuador in the last game of Group B, which left them with 4 points and only 1 goal scored in the group stage. That was not enough to qualify for the next stage, as Venezuela topped the group with 9 points and Ecuador advanced second, also with 4 points but with a better goal difference than Mexico.

After the game, the internet reacted to Mexico’s loss like the internet always does, with memes.

There were a couple of versions of Latin America is all happy now that Mexico lost, like this one, which reads: “Life in the rest of South America since Mexico and Chile were eliminated in the group stage”

This Spongebob meme:

A parade that includes Power Rangers, Boba Fett, and the boy from Up:

And even Cristiano Ronaldo was present in the memes:

People also brought Taylor Swift into it:

And AMLO:

There was time to celebrate Venezuela and Ecuador too:

And to bring up the fact that the Copa América is a CONMEBOL tournament, not a CONCAF one, so Mexico is technically just a guest:

Plus, the internet really, really wanted to make the point that apparently, seeing Mexico lose makes some men happy, with a collection of football players celebrating and a tweet that reads:

“Women: “Men are not happy with anything”

The men seeing that Mexico was eliminated in a group with Jamaica, Ecuador, and Venezuela”

And finally, there was the Inside Out 2 meme, with Mexico providing the new emotion: Disappointment.
