After going 11 rounds with Caleb Plant and scoring a TKO victory, Canelo Alvarez, the new undisputed boxing champion of the world, still had enough energy to go out that same evening and celebrate the win with friends and family.
The celebration included getting a hold of a microphone and serenading his wife Fernanda at a nightclub in Las Vegas. Grammy award-winning DJ and producer Zedd uploaded the video to his TikTok page, so fans could see that boxing wasn’t Alvarez’s only talent. Alvarez’s song of choice: Mexican singer and songwriter Joan Sebastian’s “Eso Y Mas.”
“When you hand the mic to Canelo after he wins the fight and he serenades his wife for 20 minutes,” Zedd writes on TikTok to describe the scene.
As you can tell from the video, Zedd looks quite surprised at what he’s witnessing. Many in the crowd were recording the impromptu performance on their phones as Alvarez crooned like no one was watching. Later, Zedd made a heart sign for the camera. There’s a lot of love coming from Alvarez’s camp. It’s too bad Plant didn’t get any of it when his face hit the canvas.
Alvarez has gone on the record in the past about how much he likes singing karaoke on the weekends. Earlier this year, he told The Dan LeBatard Show that “romantic music” is what he likes to sing most and even gave listeners a sample of Luis Miguel’s “La Media Vuelta.” He also said having a few drinks helps “get me going…so it can flow better.”
