NBA star Carmelo Anthony is hoping for another big game winner – this time on the small screen.
According to Deadline, a docuseries is in the works on Anthony’s life and professional basketball career, which started in 2003 when he was drafted third overall by the Denver Nuggets.
“The biggest question everyone is probably thinking is – why now? Why choose this moment to tell my story?” Anthony said in a statement. “The short of it is I’ve spent enough time letting other people speak for me. It’s time for my truth. I look forward to viewers finally having the opportunity to hear about my journey in my own words.”
To produce the docuseries, Anthony is teaming up with Westbrook Studios, Falkon Entertainment, and his own production company, Creative 7, which was named after the jersey number he wore as a member of the New York Knicks.
“I have been immensely supportive of my vision for this project, and I am proud that we have been able to make this series a reality,” Anthony added.
Since leaving New York in 2017, Anthony has played for several teams in the league, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and Portland Trailblazers. He joined LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2021 after signing a one-year contract.
If he decides to hit the court for another season, Anthony will be entering his 21st year in the NBA this fall. It is still unknown if the Lakers will re-sign him to another contract or if another team is interested in adding him to its roster.
Carmelo Anthony is a 10-time NBA All-Star and three-time Olympic gold medalist. He is ninth on the NBA all-time scoring list and was named to the NBA’s top 75 players in history list last year.
